If your family’s anything like mine, you’ll have inherited boxes of old porcelain and silver cutlery from your parents and grandparents. Heck, I’ve even got a box of kitchenware from my grandmother’s grandmother!
Obviously the years can take their toll on such items, and sometimes restoring them to their former glory can seem like a time-consuming, expensive task.
But it doesn’t have to be! Especially not where cutlery is concerned.
If you’ve got knives, forks, and spoons that have been robbed of their spark, there’s actually an incredibly simple and cost-effective method of helping yourself out.
According to reports, all it takes is a pot of water, a spoon of bicarbonate, and a half spoon of sugar.
When you’ve added the bicarb and sugar, bring the water to the boil, take an aluminium foil sheet and cut it into quarters. Roll the four parts into balls and add them to the boiling water.
Next, place the cutlery in question in the pot and leave it for ten minutes. When you take it out again, wash it with water and soap and you should see it restored to all its past beauty.
