A Rare Find Citizen in Taiwan Encounters a “Tiffany Blue Snake” on the Roadside

There are many types of snakes in Taiwan’s mountainous environment, and they usually emerge during the summer season. A local citizen encountered a green snake on the side of the road, which turned out to be colored blue when up close. The “Tiffany Blue Snake”, which the public called it, was slithering on the road, and a video shared on the internet triggered heated discussions among netizens.

According to Taiwanese media, a netizen shared several photos and a video of the blue snake on Facebook on August 31, Thursday, and asked netizens online, “What kind of snake is this?” As seen in the video, the “Tiffany Blue Snake” was crawling on the ground by the side of the road. Its color is beautiful and very rare.

The “Tiffany Blue Snake” or Blue Snake is a variant of the Green Tree Python. However, its genetic coloring differs from the Green Tree Python, which results in its blue coloring instead of green. They thrive on humid rainforests and are capable of illuminating at night, and feed on insects and small reptiles. Additionally, its bite can be venomous, causing redness and swelling. It can also affect the blood system. However, the bite does not possess any symptoms that can lead to death.
Netizens who viewed the video were left baffled and in awe of the “Tiffany Blue Snake”:
“You have encountered this one-in-a-million opportunity. It is really good luck. The super beautiful yellow-green snake is also a living individual.”
“The color is too beautiful and rare.”

“So beautiful, but it looks like a color variation.”

“It’s really rare for this color to grow to such a big size. Basically, it is eaten by natural enemies at once.”

“Doesn’t it usually change color after death? This one is still alive. It’s so amazing!”

It is believed that a rare find such as this brings good luck to the person who encountered them. However, if you are not familiar with reptiles such as a snake, it would be wise to steer clear rather than capture or provoke them. Just like the saying goes, “It is better to be safe than sorry.”
