A baby girl, only 3 months old, was left alone at a Walmart in Philadelphia on Thursday night. The police in Philadelphia confirmed this information. Two men and one woman left the baby at the store on Byberry Road. Store security approached them, suspecting them of stealing, and then they ran away, leaving the baby behind.
Walmart security called the police around 11 p.m. on Thursday. Paramedics from the Philadelphia Fire Department took the baby to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital. Medical professionals checked her and said she was in good condition, according to the Philadelphia Police.
The Philadelphia Department of Human Services took custody of the child. The police believe they have identified the baby’s parents and have contacted them. It seems the parents were not involved in the shoplifting. An anonymous source mentioned that some of the people who left the baby might not have been part of the theft.
The Special Victims Unit of the Philadelphia Police Department is investigating the incident, but no one has been charged yet.
If anyone has information about this, they are asked to contact the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3260 or submit an anonymous tip to the PPD’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477), or call 911.
There was no immediate response from the Department of Human Services and the Philadelphia Sheriff’s Office to PEOPLE’s request for comment on Friday.
