‘Fatphobic’ Critics Hammer Lizzo For Her Unusual Met Gala Outfit

If you want to see something unusual, then it’s always good to look at the Met Gala. You never quite know what you are going to see on the red carpet.

This was seen clearly at the 2024 Met Gala when 36-year-old Lizzo made quite a statement on the red carpet. She wore a dress with unusual flower petals and honestly, you just need to see it to understand it.

The critics were not very happy with the dress and she snapped back at them, calling them fatphobic.

Many people in the comments section were not very happy about the dress either. They called it a mushroom, a menstrual cup, and a lampshade.

The designer of the dress, Victor Weinsanto was very happy when he was asked to re-create the gown. He said that he didn’t think it was a real request at first but he loves being able to work with Lizzo

“Harmony within nature was the biggest inspiration for this look,” he told the outlet. “I wanted the idea of florals and gardens, but not to be so literal. The gown features these sprays of dried flowers, so I wanted to play with the beauty of a rose through its lifecycle, using different tones and just mixing from my palettes to reflect the rosebud to a rose in full bloom to the point when it withers and dies, but it’s still beautiful.”
