Twins is a comedy about Schwarzenegger and DeVito playing genetically engineered twins. It was a successful movie when it was released in 1988.
The sequel, Triplets, would have involved the brothers discovering they have a third sibling. Ivan Reitman, who directed the first movie, was supposed to return for the sequel, but he passed away. Murphy was originally in talks for the film, but Tracy Morgan was later considered.
DeVito joked that Schwarzenegger should have done the sequel instead of becoming governor. Schwarzenegger expressed disappointment that the project was stopped after Ivan Reitman’s death, despite having everything in place for it to happen.
